RE: The Slide Perfected??

We have a 2007 Jayfeather 213 EXP and have no problems with the rear slide. No leaks. No mechanical failures. As you said .. I'm sure it's far from perfect, but so far so good.

RE: Jayco JayFeather Model 213

We got about 25% off of suggested retail for our 2007 Jayfeather 213 EXP last year. It suits our family of 3 well. We really like the fold up lower front bunk and access door for our bicycle storage - that's a nice feature on the 213. The slide out queen bed is ok if your 6 feet tall or so. Might be cramped for a taller person. We do fine and our son likes the lower bunk up front. We store lightweight items on the upper bunk. We like it - that's why we bought it;)

RE: Hard side queen slide out, bunk bed models?

Jayco Jayfeather 213EXP and 254EXP both fit the bill.

RE: strange noice while towing new TT

The stabilizer base pads on our Jayco sort of make a sound as we drive down the road. They make a tinging sound as they rattle a little.

RE: I could not believe it, neither could my DW!

We are still looking for a "left-handed smoke shifter" but other than that ... I think we have what we need from CW

RE: Jayco 213 exp

That RV dealer should be ashamed of himself. The 213 is too heavy for the Uplander. Not a good match.

RE: F250 BLOWER RESISTOR ASSY?

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_replace_a_Ford_F250_blower_resistor not sure if this applies to 2002 model year - but worth a try.

RE: rockwood or jayco?

Keep looking - when you find it you'll know it. Personally, we chose Jayco over Rockwood.

RE: Towing with an Explorer/Mountaineer

I have an 05 V8 Explorer and towed our signature Jayco 3-4 times last year. As others mentioned, the passing semis and buses do boss you around some. The Explorer had enough power - but that's a relative thing. My two biggest concerns are the 32' 4" trailer length, and tongue weigth. The Explorer with people and light gear does not allow for much tongue weight. Your GVWR of 5962 LBS 10% tongue = 596 LBS 15% tongue = 894 LBS Most agree that you want to be somewhere between 10-15%, so you gotta watch this closely. Dry numbers really don't mean a lot when trying to figure out if your tow vehicle is adaquate. From my seat ..... I would not consider towing the Trail Sport with our V8 Explorer. Even with a Equal-i-zer hitch and good brake controller ... I think you'll find it a rough way to go. But again, everything is relative. I would ask for a "test tow" if possible before closing the deal.

RE: Jayco 254 w/06 Pathfinder TV???

We towed a 2007 Jayfeather 213 EXP with our 05 Explorer 4.6 V8 rated to tow 7000 LBS and it was not a very pleasent experience for me, wife, son and dog. Even when packed just right, Equal-i-zer hitch and Prodigy set up right, we were not happy with the results. You may be able to move the 254 trailer ok and pull it, but you may find that the semi's and winds will boss you around a lot. Not the safest set up in MHO :)

RE: Color white ???

When we we're looking for a good used truck, color wasn't real important. The truck we bought just happens to be white. First white vehicle I've owned. We like it. Simple Clean White Truck

RE: Crew Cab or SUV

We have a crew cab pick up truck and an SUV. For normal driving to stores and family trips, the SUV is very hard to beat. For camping, fishing and hauling stuff around you gotta love the BIG TRUCK! Camping - when it rains or we get muddy we just load up the wet stuff in the back of the truck and the interior of truck and camper stays clean.

RE: F250 best buy? hi mile/low $ or lower miles/higher $

based on everyones advice on here I am going to go with a 05 or newer F250 Supercab or Crew (with one exception due to low, low price for one 04).... 2006 F250 Superduty/SuperCab - 5.4L v8, 50K miles, $13.6K 2006 F250 Superduty/CrewCab - 6.8L V10, 90K miles, $13.9K 2005 F250 Superduty/SuperCab - 5.4L V8, 86K miles, $11.9K 2005 F250 Superduty/SuperCab - 5.4L V8, 118K miles, $10K 2005 F250 XL/SuperCab - 5.4L v8, 160K Miles, $8.7K 2004 F250 XL/SuperCab - 5.4L v8, 112K miles, $7.7K The 2006 with SuperCrew would be my choice, if it were me shopping. I had 2 extended cab trucks (an F150 then a Chevy 1500) before my current Chevy Crew Cab. The difference in cab space is incredible. I have 3 boys (9, 3, and 1 year old) and I couldn't imagine trying to squish all three of them in an extended cab, at least for a trip of any appreciable length. To me the SuperCrew, V10 gives you the best of all options: huge cab and plenty of power. If you're only driving 3K to 6K per year, the difference in fuel mileage won't matter at all. KJ This would be my vote as well for the exact same reasons. V10 Crew Cab with 8' bed is a hard combo to beat for a solid tow vehicle.

RE: Ford V10 or 6.0 Diesel

We were able to find a used 2005 F250 V10 for what we had budgeted for a used F150. At first I thought the V10 was going to be overkill.... until we loaded up and towed with it. We believe that the Ford Super Duty crew cab with the 8 foot bed is a very strong, safe and secure tow vehicle. Hopefully this truck will last us a long time. Keep looking and I'll bet a great V10 will find you!

RE: Give up TT for Motels?

We enjoy both camping in our RV and staying in nice hotels - it all depends on the circumstances. I would not give up camping though - even if ALL the money was returned. Outdoor experiences with our family is why we camp!
